A Wish For Someone Else This Holiday Season #WishesDelivered

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of UPS for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

wish the holidayThis holiday season we are sending so many packages and UPS is working to insure that my packages get to loved ones. In fact during the holiday season UPS workers work even harder to deliver wishes across the US and the world.
Every little gift that ends up at a door started from a wish.
This year my daughter wished for new dance shoes. In return she wished for another pair for a little girl who needs them. In fact my wish this holiday season is incredibly personal. See I was once a foster child and I will tell you how hard Christmas is for children who in foster care. In fact life is incredibly lonely but especially Christmas.
One year I was in a state shelter with a large amount of other children being older at the time I saw how heartbroken the youngest children were. How simple gifts and Christmas activities truly made an impact. It’s those “normal” moments that means so much to foster children. dance is a gift a wish to dream bigThis year my wish is give little girls in foster care the chance to dream big. See our community and every community has foster children in them. Every day they wish to be normal and do ordinary things like go to dance class like their peers. Participate in dance recitals and have teachers who inspire them to do anything.
Our community has a home for foster children and our dance studio Hollywood Dance has committed to building the community and building up young women so that they too can have a chance to dream big.
They say less than 5% of foster children go to college. Looking back on my childhood I realized how little people in my life encouraged me to dream big. How little I got told I was doing a good job, or how little self confidence I had because I was never inspired to. Dance has given me that, it has given my own children that. Hollywood Dance has given us that and I hope that any foster child who has a dream to dance can have the chance to be inspired by dance. Because they can do anything.
So this year I hope to work on giving little girls right in our community that wish, that chance to dream big. For every wish submitted with the hashtag #WishesDelivered, UPS will donate $1 to one of their charity partners (Salvation Army, Boys & Girls Club, or Toys for Tots) up to $100K! So lets hear your wishes!  Visit the #WishesDelivered site to submit your wish directly.

What a great gift from UPS! My wish is that every single little boy and girl would be a child through the age that nature intended without a care in the world. They would always have their little beautiful hearts, WHOLE and secure with their little minds filled with amazed wonder, curiosity, endless imagination and dreams of what they will be when they “grow up”. In a perfect world a child would NEVER be hungry, afraid or have to worry or even know what that feels like. No matter what unfortunate circumstance our children may fall victim to, they would have that “someone” (consistently) to make them feel uniquely special, safe and secure, with lots of hugs, kisses, laughter, reassurance and without hesitation, would feel comfort and know that they are truly adored and loved for who they are….unconditionally.

Thank you for sharing your story, you are very inspiring. I would wish that none of my students would be hungry this holiday season. It breaks my heart seeing how hungry some of these kids are.

I love that UPS is doing this. My wish would be that my sister’s kids could get the dental care that they need that isn’t covered by their insurance. It’s so sad seeing my 16 year old nephew upset that he might not have dentures for prom.

I love seeing big companies helping others! I agree that foster kids at Christmas can be very lonely, maybe that’s why I want to over indulge my own kids? Why in gift exchanges for kids I want the other kiddos to feel loved and thought of?
