The Best DSLR Memory Card & Powerful PC Ram

When it comes to memory for any and all digital devices, make sure you get a reliable and reputable brand. Think about it, this is the little piece of electronic hardware that stores your data for so many devices including your DSLR, digital camera, smartphones, tablet, and so many other devices.

We know the terms 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and on. This simply is the size or capacity, how many pictures you can take, the higher the more storage. But there are also many other specs to memory.

For instance Digital Memory Cards come in a wide range or shapes, sizes, and slot uses, but there is more than just the physical shape, size, and memory that differs from memory cards. DSLR cameras, the nice ones that people use for professional looking images and video, rely on memory cards with faster performance speeds, the quickness at how fast data is written to a card and transferred to your computer.

Take the SD (Secure Digital) Card. This is your standard card used for many digital cameras, from point and shoot to the big professional looking models. Every camera I have owned, varying in brands, has used the SD card. It’s not too small, not too big, and comes in many configurations. But these days they come in different speeds for high-performance DSLR & DSLM cameras along with the newer 4K camcorders. Not only is fast speed needed for capture, but to transfer these huge images takes time too. This is where powerful cards like a Kingston 64MB SDHC/SDXC UHS-I U3 card comes into play.

With performance speeds up to 90MB/s read and 80MB/s write speeds this Ultra High-Speed Class 3 (UHS-I U3) card is many times over as fast as conventional SDHC cards. This is great for the huge images and videos my Nikon D610 produces and can carry, and luckily now I can capture the video completely and not wait all night to transfer a huge video file.

Personally, our new Kingston 64MB SDXC Card is the best dslr memory card we have owned by far. It is compatible with SDHC & SDXC devices, but not compatible with standard SD/SDHC enabled devices and readers. Features include:

  • Capacities: 16GB, 32GB, 64GB
  • Secure: built-in write-protect switch prevents accidental data loss
  • File format: FAT32 (SDHC 16GB–32GB) exFAT (SDXC 64GB)
  • Compliant: with the SD Card Association specification
  • Guaranteed: lifetime warranty, free technical support
  • Dimensions: 24mm x 32mm x 2.1mm
  • Storage Temperatures: -40°C to 85°C
  • Operating Temperature: -25°C to 85°C

PC Computer Memory VS Digital Camera Memory – Whats The Difference?

Memory doesn’t just apply to portable devices; memory is an integral part of any digital device. However, memory for say a PC home computer is much different in its purpose than memory suited for digital photography and music.

Memory, or RAM as its known when applied to the PC world serves as a gateway to transfer data between the user interface and display, input, etc and the storage or hard drive. This is a temporary memory, and does not store say images or your music, directly. So when we transfer our data from our SDHC/SDXC cards to our PC, we are transferring the data from the card memory to the PC hard drive. It’s confusing a little, but they are different.

Regardless, your RAM memory is also just as important because it will affect how fast your computer can operate. And being the bridge between data from the storage and the whole computer system, using reliable RAM is important also.

Kingston is also a reliable and long maker of computer memory components and one I trust to use in my computers in Nikon DSLRs. I was sent a set of the Kingston HyperX Fury RAM sticks to test out in one of our home computers. The memroy sticks looked cool, and have been great installed. I have noticed a different in smoothness in the PC, but that is the purpose of quality and more powerful computer RAM.

The HyperX® FURY RAM is great for any level of computer users. With its easy upgrade ability and the FURY’s ability to automatically overclock to the highest frequency available up to 1866MHz1, this is a great expansion RAM for any user. It also comes available in different colors including black, blue, red HyperX line white, with a black PCB for those custom cases.

Kingston HyperX FURY RAM Features:

  • Dual channel available
