Misfit Shine – The Sleek Physcial Activity Monitor

We had a chance to give the Misfit Shine Physical Activity Monitor a try with with our iPhone but was impressed with its sleek appearance. It is a small device about the size of a US Half Dollar and has a nice brushed satin finish (different colors available). Activity indicators along with a clock are displayed by a circular dial of lights with my daily physical activity goal measured by a gauge of lights to indicate how close I am to my daily goal of activity.

What I found also neat is the built in watch. By tapping on the Shine it will be switched between modes from the tracker to the clock (if enabled).  This is great to allow it to be worn in many occasions from Formal to casual to active. The Shine comes in 4 different colors; grey, black, topaz, and champagne. There is also the option for the supplied sport band but a optional black or tan leather band and necklace is available (sold separately.)

The Shine is great for so many people who want to keep track of themselves to help themselves be more active or those who just want to really keep a eye on their levels. This is great for all sports and activities but also for the daily walker and anyone for that matter.

With the choice to wear it on a piece of clothing or shoe or band, it’s easy to keep track of my activity. The watch strap piece allows it to be worn like a watch and used as a wristwatch. It also includes a magnetic clip to let the Misfit Shine be used in many ways and places. It uses a coin type of battery that last up to 4 months and is sealed water tight.

Setup was different. After installing the app we had to tap it lightly on the phone and it downloaded the firmware and updated. Checking the different modes of tracking is via your phone with installed app. You can track your steps, calories burned, distance traveled, non-step activity, swimming and sleep. This is nice to really give yourself an idea of what’s going on and great for swimmers and is resistant to 50 meters.

This is a versatile device but requires an iPhone and download from the store for use of its full functionality in tracking.

I hadn’t heard of this device before! I like that it can be a necklace or a wristband!

This sounds like a great little device to have! I have a Polar Heart Rate watch, but have been thinking about getting a fit bit or something similar, because my Polar doesn’t track steps.

This is cool. I haven’t heard of these before. I have heard of the Fit Bit and The Nike Fuel Band, but this is new to me. I like how you can switch up the look with your choice of 4 colors.
