The Omron Fitness Challenge Wrap Up – Week 4 #iheartomron #mamavation

I can hardly believe that we are coming to an end with with Omron 30 day Fitness Challenge. I’ve been working hard all month and I can’t wait to share my changes!!! This week I stepped it up with my new Omron Strapless Heart Rate Monitor (HR-5ooU). The pedometer and strapless heart rate monitor both sync with the  Omron Fitness Dashboard helping me keep track of my fitness levels and my goals. It’s seeing these gals that help me move forward.

 The new Omron Strapless Heart Rate Monitor (HR-500U) takes away the need to use an annoying chest strap while exercising. Easy-to-use and comfortable, the wrist monitor provides accurate, continuous monitoring. Users can simply glance at the monitor on their wrist to check their heart rate without interrupting their workout. For me it’s been another great way to track my progress and activity which is keeping me more active and healthy! I really like that it tells me my pace and distance which is perfect for the runner in me. I’m excited to have this new monitor to keep me motivated!

I can hardly believe  that it has been 30 days since starting this challenge. After a painful pregnancy last year I am now breastfeeding and after making bad choices with food for so long I knew it was time for a change. My issue is sugar. I love sugar, it can be raw cane organic sugar but that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter how healthy your food is or how organic it is on a label it’s all of those organic cookies and cakes that got me to this point. I know that my issue is food. I know that I love food but I also now know that food needs to fuel my body. That good foods can be beautiful and colorful. Good food can taste good and provide my body with essential vitamins it needs. After this challenge I have rededicated myself to having a diet that fuels my body. That doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy every now and again but making unhealthy choices is what got me to this place.

My husband told me to hold my arms up for the picture this week. So you can see my back and my stomach. I never thought I’d be one of those people with a belly roll. You know full on muffin top all the way around? It all happened so quickly it seems or maybe I just didn’t want to look in the mirror. Looking at myself 30 days ago I hated looking down and seeing that. I am a young woman and even though I am a mom I want to look and feel sexy for my husband. I want to be active and happy and I quickly was not becoming that person. I quickly was seeing a person I didn’t like anymore. That’s why I signed up for this challenge to be honest. I wanted to hold myself accountable and not feel alone in this process. I wanted support and compassion and I found that. I found that I am not the only one who felt this way.

I have learned a lot from this experience. It’s not that I counted calories or meals it’s that I’m counting veggies and greens and eating a more plant based whole food diet. It’s that I’m drinking more water and making better choices over all. That is my biggest success this month, setting the path for a more healthy and happy 2013. One month of change will inspire another and another and I hope for lifelong success with my fitness goals. I WILL RUN THAT HALF MARATHON THIS YEAR!!!!!

30 Days Later: My body has started to tighten back up. I lost that entire muffin top roll that I had started to gain. My strength is quite amazing. I can run 6 miles now. When I started this I could barely make it to 3 miles, most days I just did 2 and a half. My arms have gotten smaller and yet stronger. My clothes are all saggy and big on me. I can run up the stairs in my home easier and I even noticed an improvement in my awesome dance skills during Zumba!!!   The regulars in my Zumba class even noticed last week and I can see and feel a difference in my body too!

I still have a way to go but knowing that in just 30 days I have started to change my life is what motivates me. I know that if I keep working I can have the body I want by summer. That I can feel comfortable in a swimsuit again and that I can run that half marathon I am willing to work so hard for. I may not have lost the most weight but I feel great knowing that I safely breastfed my baby and still worked at my weight loss goals. I did it the healthy and natural way which I think will make it all stick with me.

Weight Totals: I have lost 12.5 pounds since starting the challenge. 

I lost 3.5 inches from my hips!!!!!!
