My Tips For New Mom With Comforts for Baby #ComfortsForBaby

I met my husband shortly after my 19th birthday, and in the spring of that following year I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Kaila. Kaila immediately was the light of both of our lives but being that young new mother there was so much that I did not know. I wish that I had someone there to help guide me as a mother but the truth is we figured it out as we went. I mean we’re still figuring it out as we go my first born is teaching me about being a mother more than she will ever know. I’ve made so many mistakes as a first mom but I wish someone had told me not to beat myself up about them. I wish that guilt would wash away. That making mistakes is okay as long as you don’t repeat them. It’s all about finding a better way to an even better end solution.

Oh there are so many things I’d love to tell the younger newly mommy – me.

Tips For New Moms:

  • Always do your research.– Don’t allow anyone else to tell you what to do with your child. No immunizations? What kind of foods? What kind of diapers? What kind of birth? You’ll know what feels right for you. Once you do your research and learn about immunizations, or even what you want in a diaper you’ll know what decision to make. PS. Do buy chlorine free diapers!
  • Don’t give up on breastfeeding if it’s something you want to do.– Breastfeeding is one of those things I gave up on with my first child. Being young I didn’t feel comfortable I didn’t want that burden. I went on to breastfeed my second and now third daughter and wish I hadn’t given up so easily with my first. If it’s something you want to do make it happen, seek help, ask friends. I found I was most successful because I found me own way of doing it, it just so turned out that’s just how everyone else was successful at it.
  • Mommy guilt.– Just because your life doesn’t fit someones elses don’t allow yourself to be guilty. Babies are all different and unique and we all parent our own way. Don’t allow others to make you feel guilty. Your choices are your own and I wish I wouldn’t have allowed other peoples opinions to affect me so much. I would have spent a whole lot more time smiling.
  • If Your Baby Falls Off The Couch: it’s not the end of the world if baby falls off the couch. I think at some point it’s happened with all of my children. A bed, couch, baby falls. Your heart races and you check everything, you hug baby tighter and you’ll learn your lesson. I promise it does happen to even the most careful first time parents.
  • Get Useful Parenting Tips Online– I think parenting is what brought me into readingblogs and then writing my own blog, these days there are so many useful communities online.
  • Take more photos! I wish I would have gotten more photos of my first baby. Take videos too! LOTS!
  • Products – Everyone is going to tell you that you need a ton of stuff. You don’t need it all, you won’t use it all. Trust me I’ve always had too many clothes too. Do buy gas drops ahead of time and have them around. They will save you come 3AM with a new baby.
