Holiday Gift Guide: Summer Infant PEEK Plus Video Baby Monitor

We were sent the most technological advanced baby monitor that we have ever used. It is the Summer Infant Peek Plus baby monitoring system and its is awesome for parents who always want a peace of mind.

What makes this baby monitor so neat, is the Peek Monitor App that is available on the Apple iPhone (iPod & iPad too), Android OS, Blackberry smartphones and through the internet. Anyone with the secure username and password can log into the app and see what is going on through the monitors.

So say if mom leaves, she can turn on the app on her smart phone and check out the baby monitor from anywhere! It allows noise, and adjustment to the video such as contrast and brightness. It can also be used for monitoring anything while away, such as the baby sitter and kids.

The system was very simple to setup. All required is to set up the wireless gateway on your network and router by just plugging it in. Then setup the camera making sure the wires are well clear of baby. The camera can be swiveled and tilted allowing for great coverage. Next setup your hand monitor.

To setup up the app all you have to do is register for the service. Get the info for your camera system off the gateway and connect it with your account and the registration takes care of finding the camera on your network, super easy. Just follow the on screen instructions. We have the app on the iPod, which allows mom to check on Mia when at the gym if she wants and on our smartphones for away from home. And if anything, it can always be accessed through the internet.

We received the PEEK to review but could easily have purchased this ourselves. It has all the technology we want and need!! There is the option to add in more cameras, which is great for multiple rooms. Our plan is to add in another camera in the future. We think it would be a great gift idea for expecting parents. It’s our favorite baby monitor.

PRICE: $309.99

I don’t believe you can add another camera. I wish that were true because I have this system, but I can’t find anywhere to purchase extra cameras and I can’t find any info on the summer infant website or in the user guide that points to the ability to add cameras. There is an “add camera” feature in the menu of the monitor, but I believe it’s use is for deleting and adding the original camera again if there are synching problems (as evidenced in the “add camera” section of the user guide. If I am wrong (and I hope I am) can you please comment with any information you have been given? I would buy an extra camera today if I could…
